Questions, answered
Do I need experience?
No. The first weeks are mannequin heads, a comb and one skill at a time.
How long is the program?
It runs for the hours the Ohio State Barber Board requires. Days finish sooner than evenings; your enrollment letter has the dates for your group.
Can I work while I study?
Yes. The evening track meets Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, plus the Saturday clinic day.
What will I wear?
Plain black, with an apron and closed shoes. We tell you more at your enrollment meeting.
What do I need to buy?
A kit of clippers, trimmers, shears, combs and a cape. The list comes at your enrollment meeting; the brands are your choice.
Will the school get me a license?
A license is the state's to give. We teach the program and prepare you for the exam.
Do you teach every hair texture?
Yes. We cut waves, coils, curls, twists and straight hair.
Can the public book a cut?
Yes. The student clinic is open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Book a time, or walk in when a chair is open.
Where do I park?
There is a lot behind the building, off Wayne Avenue.
How do I start?
Visit on a clinic day, or ask for a tour. Then send a short application.
Still have a question?
Call or write and we will answer between classes.
