How to apply
Four steps, in this order
Nothing is decided on the first visit. You see the floor, you ask, you take the paperwork home.
- 01
Step 1: Visit the floor
Come on a clinic day, or book a tour. Watch a class and talk to a student.
Wednesday, Friday or Saturday
No need to book for a look
- 02
Step 2: Send a short application
Tell us about yourself and which track you want. We will say what the Ohio State Barber Board asks you to bring.
Your name and how to reach you
Days or evenings
Which group you would like to join
- 03
Step 3: Meet the director
Earline goes through the schedule, the kit and your tuition in writing.
Take it all home to read
Ask as many questions as you like
- 04
Step 4: Start with the next group
You begin on the first day of the group you chose.
Clippers, combs and mannequin heads first
Clinic clients when you are ready
Start dates
A new group each quarter
A small group means every student gets time at the chair. If a group is full, we put you first in line for the next.

Your first week
What you will carry from day one
You start with clippers in your hand. Your instructor shows the grip, the guard and the stroke, and you repeat it on a mannequin head until it is steady.
We give you the kit list at your enrollment meeting, so you can buy what suits your hands and your budget.
On the kit list
Clippers and trimmers
Shears and combs
A cape and an apron
A notebook for theory

Ready to ask?
Tell us the track and the group you have in mind. We will write back with what to bring.
